EDITORIAL

Dear colleagues, despite certain achievements of conservative antitumor therapy, surgical method is still the major approach in such frequent malignancies as lung, gastric, colorectal, renal cancer and others. Recent advances in surgical technique, as well as in anesthesiology and intensive care provide an opportunity to review treatment tactics in a number of cancer patients who were previously considered inoperable. Implementation in clinical practice of extended and combined operations including those with resection of large vessels and cardiac interventions, extension of indications for reconstructive plastic and surgical interventions on the vertebra, performing simultaneous operations in cancer patients with concurrent cardio-vascular pathology enable radical therapy for patients who otherwise would have received only palliative or symptomatic treatment. I believe that the publications in this journal will arouse interest both of surgeon-oncologists and practical physicians who directly deal with cancer patients.
