Possible applications of mini-invasive techniques for the esophageal and gastric varices treatment in theportal hypertension syndrome

Abstract

During the period from 2012 to 2015 108 patients with portal hypertension complicated with esophageal and gastric varices were hospitalized. Endoscopic variceal ligation was performed in 75 patients, laparoscopic gastric devascularization – in 6 patients, portocaval bypass – in 3 patients, surgeries: laparotomy, gastric devascularization (without gastrotomy) – in 3 patients, Patsior procedure – in 2 patients; TIPS – 3 patients.

Indications and contraindications for this method are under development. In some cases, laparoscopic gastric devascularization could be an alternative to Patsior procedure, with inability to perform bypass surgery.
