Methods of prolonged local antibiotic therapy and topical negative pressure in the treatment of infectious wound complications sternotomy: analytical review, clinical examples

Abstract

The authors conducted an analysis of the literature, resources MedLink and PubMed by using the method of topical negative pressure in the treatment of infectious wound complications sternotomy and evaluating its clinical and cost-effectiveness. Also give an overview of the use of biodegradable materials in the antibacterial treatment of complicated wounds. To summarize the existing experience, the authors suggest the use of these techniques in the treatment of these patients. By way of illustration shows the clinical examples from their own practice.

Keywords:complications of sternotomy, mediastinitis, negative pressure wound therapy, the method of prolonged local antibiotic therapy
