The first experience of minimally invasive mitral valve surgery

Abstract

The experience of performing the first in Russia successful series of the mitral valve prosthesis/ plastic repair surgeries using thoracoscopic technique is presented in the article. The authors performed 114 surgeries with conversion rate of 3,5%. In-hospital mortality was 1,8%. It should be noted that the applied technique allows surgeons to perform a wide range of manipulations on the mitral valve, providing a significant cosmetic effect, comfort and accelerated rehabilitation for patients.
