Endovascular repair of the thoracic aorta using percutaneous access

Abstract

Endovascular treatment of aneurysms of thoracic part of aorta requires stent-grafts of significant diameter, while the diameter of delivering device is rather big (20–24 Fr). Market availability of devices for transdermal stitching on a vascular wall made a revolution in the field of endoprosthesis replacement – since then interventions with large devices can be performed under local anesthesia. Technology of transdermal access substantially reduces quantity of the complications related to allocation of an artery and the general narcosis and also reduces time of inpatient stay in hospital. Besides, treatment under local anesthesia gives the chance of more effective neuromonitoring of the patient during operation.
