EDITORIAL

Dear colleagues,

Another year of our cooperation to establish a Russian world-class surgery journal – and that was the target we set six years ago – is coming to an end. It is a very complicated mission far beyond the scope of printing industry: there can be no widely-read and expected scientific journal without high-level researches.

It is not our intention to select articles for the journals based on the “geographical” principle. The level of a scientific study is defined not by the location of the institution on the map or by its position in the levels of seniority, as well as by the authors’ merits and achievements either. Currently, we are happy to see the results of many scientific studies undertaken with the support of public and private grants. However, studies not containing interesting material but rather undertaken with the sole purpose of reporting to funds or thesis committees are not encouraged.

Authors and entire surgery teams providing with interesting results of clinical work and actually performed research are strongly encouraged for cooperation. Also, we are constantly working on optimizing the editorial board staff.

In other words, we strive to do everything impartially and objectively, based only on the quality of contributions sent to us. Such task is very hard indeed, but there is no doubt that if all efforts of our respected and would-be authors and readers, as well as of the expert group of the Editorial Board and Editorial Team of our journal who are well aware of their mission are associated, this task becomes realistic.

It has been a difficult but a prolific year, and we are looking forward to further creative cooperation!
