A case of mechanical thrombectomy in ischemic stroke after coronary artery bypass grafting

Abstract

A case of mechanical thrombectomy successful use in a patient with a stroke after coronary bypass surgery is presented. The cause of the middle cerebral artery M2-segment occlusion with the development of severe neurological deficit was postoperative atrial fibrillation. As a result of the procedure, complete recanalization of the stroke-related artery with good clinical recovery was achieved. The possibilities of ischemic stroke treating after cardiac surgery are significantly limited – systemic thrombolysis is associated with a high risk of bleeding. Thus, mechanical thrombectomy is the only method of reperfusion therapy in a given patient population.
