EDITORIAL

Abstract

Dear colleagues, contributors and readers,

Our journal has always defended integrity and authenticity of research articles since it was established in 2013. Starting from the first issue, more than once have we published articles of our contributors and editors invited from the leading medical journals on the subject. Actually, the whole history of our journal dates back to the first article of the first issue (Issue 1, 2013) entitled “Fair dealing for scientific studies” (Tishchenko P.D., Yudin B.G.), several editorials were dedicated to integrity of research articles, and, finally, an outstanding think piece by Dr. Howard Bauchner, Editor-in-Chief of “JAMA”, entitled “The rush to publication. An editorial and scientific mistake” was published (see Issue 1, 2018).

A proposal on cooperation made by Elsevier Publishing House was an important consequence of our editorial team’s policy: “All issues of the journal have been reviewed with regard to the strict quality control system, including criteria and standards for selecting articles”.

Despite the above, for the 7 years that our journal has been published, 2 articles showing signs of plagiarism have been identified by the Commission on Research Fraud of the Russian Academy of Science. In the rush to have their results published, the contributors submit their articles to more than one journal, thus demonstrating scientific misconduct. Sometimes, such articles are peer-reviewed simultaneously in several scientific journals, and at this stage, it is impossible to prevent duplicate publication of the same research. In opinion of members of our editorial team and editorial board, such research teams must be denied further cooperation with our journal.

And a positive note. It has become customary to make one issue of our journal dedicated to a single subject, by selecting and reviewing most complicated issues of contemporary biology, medicine and surgery through our contributors’ help. This is 2019 Issue 3 that you are reading now. It is dedicated to complexity of diagnosing and treating cardiomyopathy. As the problem itself, this issue is multidisciplinary: almost all journal sections can be found here. It is natural that analytical articles related to fundamental problems in cardiology (diagnosis, prognosis, cardiomyopathy aetiology and manifestation) prevail. As always, we hope for our readers’ favourable reception.

It is pleasant to note a crucial moment in the history of our journal: this issue of “Clinical and Experimental Surgery. Petrovsky journal” will be the first to provide its official information support to all scientific events held by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. This fact attests to our journal “growing up”, to its active participation in organizing and executing national scientific programmes
