Cervical venous aneurysm: clinical case

Abstract

Venous aneurysms are a rare cause of neck mass. We present a clinical case of a woman with saccular aneurysm of the system of the internal jugular vein. Aneurysm increased in size during Valsalva maneuvers and in the supine position, causing subjective difficulty in breathing, due to which the patient slept for a long time while sitting. The diagnosis was confirmed by ultrasonography and CT scan. The patient underwent surgery to resect the aneurysm, completely freed from existing symptoms. The article discusses the main clinical manifestations of cervical venous aneurysms, ultrasound and radiological features, as well as methods of surgical treatment.
