Abstract
Dear colleagues!
It has already become a good tradition to devote
annually the third issue of our journal to the fundamental and clinical
research, and development of surgical approaches to the treatment of
non-ischemic heart diseases.
This year, we are faced with the global COVID-19
pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-COV-2, which has affected more
than 17 million people worldwide. The new virus affects not only the
respiratory tract, but also the cardiovascular system, leading to the
development of myocarditis, acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias
and venous thrombosis. Therefore, we cannot overlook the experience of our
colleagues in the fight against cardiovascular complications in this
threatening disease.
However, the emergence of a new disease does not
reduce the relevance of the introduction of new surgical technologies for the
treatment of hereditary cardiomyopathies, valvular defects and other heart
diseases, the development of new diagnostic approaches, analysis of unique
clinical situations not associated with a new infection. Sometimes the
understanding of what's exactly going on with unusual patient comes
years later, with the development of new methods and concepts, and this
knowledge can be used in current clinical practice.
This issue of the journal "Clinical and
Experimental Surgery. Petrovsky Journal" will present papers highlighting
the variety of etiological causes and approaches to the treatment of
non-ischemic heart diseases.
