Structure and dynamics of myocardial function in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy

Abstract

The paper discusses the evaluation of myocardial function in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. We examined 55 patients who underwent left ventricular and left atrial remodeling with mitral valve repair. The mean age of the patients was 42±14 year. All the pa- tients were examined 9–12 months after surgery. Using echocardiography we assessed the following indicators: end-diastolic and end-systolic volumes (EDV and ESV), ejection fraction (EF), the myocardial displacement rate, the rate of volume change from diastole to systole (dV/dt) measured by constructing a flow-volume curve.

Keywords:echocardiography, flow-volume loops, the rate of left ventricular volume change (dV/dt), diastole
