The results of experimental studies of a new type of auxiliary circulation apparatus base on a disk type pump

Abstract

Aim - experimental testing of the apparatus of auxiliary circulation based on a viscous friction pump in a chronic experiment.

Material and methods. Three calves at the age of 3 months underwent paracorporal implantation of the auxiliary circulatory apparatus based on a disk-type pump according to the scheme "left atrium - descending thoracic aorta".

Results. A technique has been developed and tested to study a new type of apparatus for assisted blood circulation in large mammals. Three chronic calf experiments were performed. The duration of observation in this series was 2, 5 and 7 days. The main indicators of hemodynamics, acid-base balance and the biochemical composition of the blood were within normal limits throughout the observation period. Morphological and histological studies of the kidneys, liver and lungs and myocardium did not reveal the presence of ischemia or thromboembolism.

Conclusion. The results of this series of experiments showed the feasibility of further research on the development of prototypes of auxiliary blood circulation devices based on a viscous friction pump.
