Comparison of direct anastomosis and "sutureless" technique for radical correction of total anomaly drainage of pulmonary veins

Abstract

Background. The presented work is the experience of using a "sutureless" technique for surgical treatment of total abnormal drainage of pulmonary veins. The relevance of the work is determined by a number of basic methods in comparison with the method of direct anastomosis of the pulmonary vein collector and the left atrium, which is more often used in Russian practice, performed under conditions of deep hypothermia and circulatory arrest, as well as poor coverage of its implementation in the country.

The aim of the work was to compare the above two techniques to identify statistically significant differences between them in terms of a combination of several control factors that are significant for the patient's health.

Material and methods. 34 case histories of patients diagnosed with TADLV were analyzed. In accordance with the method of surgical treatment, the patients were divided into control and experimental groups, 16 and 18 people, respectively. The collected data were analyzed using nonparametric statistical analysis methods.

The results of the study demonstrated significant differences in the control factors of the study, such as the duration of aortic clamping, cardiopulmonary bypass, the total duration of surgery and hospitalization with a significance level of p less than 0.05 for each factor.

Conclusion. Our clinical experience shows that the technique used allows to avoid a lot of complications associated with prolonged CPB and circulatory arrest, and is also more preferable from the surgical team perspective.
