Partial abnormal drainage of pulmonary vines: mixed type and scimitar syndrome. Clinical notes

Abstract

Partial abnormal drainage of the pulmonary veins is characterized by the absence of connection of one or more veins to the left atrium. The frequency of occurrence is 0.3% of all congenital heart defects. Scimitar syndrome (congenital venolobar syndrome) is one of the rarest and most difficult to diagnose forms of a combination of vascular anomalies. Scimitar syndrome can be combined with other congenital heart and bronchopulmonary diseases. We describe 3 clinical cases of patients with partial abnormal drainage of pulmonary veins. They differ in clinical course, anatomical features and variants of surgical solutions. Typical problems that may arise after surgical treatment of partial abnormal pulmonary vein drainage are described: superior vena cava syndrome, prosthesis thrombosis, systemic venous obstruction. The whole range of surgical interventions used in the primary correction of partial abnormal drainage of the pulmonary veins and endovascular techniques to eliminate complications were used. Careful observation of patients who have undergone such interventions will make it possible to notice pathological symptoms in time for a more detailed examination, including angiography, MSCT angiography or MRI, and to plan surgical correction.
