Minimally invasive surgical treatment of large solitary esophageal leiomyoma

Abstract

Leiomyoma is benign esophageal neoplasm. Surgical treatment (enucleation) has traditionally been the therapy of choice. The article describes medical history of a 57-years-old patient with large leiomyoma (larger than 8 cm). We would like to present the description of this disease and symptoms, moreover, attention is paid to the minimally invasive surgical treatment of large solitary esophageal leiomyoma. This technique makes it possible to avoid surgical complications and support to cut down the rehabilitative period.
