Education of the surgeon as a lifelong occupation

Abstract

The author analyzes the current structure and system of the education of surgeons in modern Russia. Considerable attention is paid to the difference between such concepts as the education and training of surgeons. The main thesis grounded in the present study is the following: modern surgery is changing rapidly and the changes in the system of education are not keeping pace with the needs of surgical practice. According to the author, today in all its areas surgery is becoming a highly intelligent and socially significant profession, personalized due to fundamental scientific component for the individual patient.
