The first experience of robot-assisted bronchoplastic segmentectomy

Abstract

A clinical case of a patient with a typical carcinoid of the 6 segmental bronchus of the right lung is considered. In such a situation, bronchoplastic segmentectomy is the only way to avoid lower bilobectomy and at the same time radically remove the tumor retreating from its borders, which will additionally save the patient's six segments of the lung.

When choosing a treatment method, preference was given to robot-assisted technologies (RAT), since they combine visualization capabilities and freedom in manipulation comparable or even better than in open surgery, but at the same time through minimally invasive access.

The use of RAT made it possible to perform the maximum parenchymal-sparing resection in compliance with the principles of radicality and minimal trauma.
