Transluminal hybrid minilaparoscopy-assisted cholecystectomy – a new step in the evolution of surgery with no scars
AbstractThe first NOTES operation is described by Kalloo et al. in 2004. This operation caused a great interest of surgeons and endoscopists around the world. At the moment, there are more than 30 published studies describes the transvaginal access while performing a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, most of the operations performed in a hybrid way. At the moment the connection of NOTESand minilaparoscopic surgery, has led to a new trend in surgery – transluminal hybrid minilaparoscopy-assisted (minilapa- roscopy-assisted natural orifice surgery – MANOS) cholecystectomy.
Objective. To examine the results of transluminal hybrid minilaparoscopy-assisted cholecystectomy in the treatment of uncomplicated gallstone disease and gallbladder polyposis.
Results. All 89 operations were performed suc- cessfully. There was no conversion to open cholecystectomy. Duration of surgery averaged 42,5 min (32–71 min).
Of the 89 operations in 2 (2,25%) cases we had to introduce an additional 5-mm trocar in the epigastric region. The results of questionnaire BIQ show that 82 (92,1%) patients reported a perfect bode image. 81 (91%) reported the condition of their post-operative scar as excellent or very good. Of the 89 patients in 1 (1,1%) case in the postoperative period we gain a functional complications – dyspareunia.
Conclusion. Transluminal hybrid minilaparoscopy- assisted (MANOS) cholecystectomy is a safe operation, easily reproducible in the hands of an experienced surgeon.
