Congenital lobar emphysema and esophageal duplication cyst: case report

Abstract

Dysontogenetic diseases of the lungs and mediastinum are widely represented in clinical practice, but combination of two or more pathologies is described in a very limited number of sources. The presence of concomitant pathology can significantly complicate the diagnostic process and require changes in patient management tactics. This article describes a case report of intraoperative detection of an esophageal duplication cyst during surgery for congenital lobar emphysema in a 22-year-old patient.

Keywords: congenital lobar emphysema; panacinar emphysema; duplicational cyst; esophageal cyst; dysontogenetic neoplasm; combined pathology
